HARBOUR PHASE OF EXERCISE PELICAN SERIAL 40/22

SINGAPORE, Monday, 03 October 2022 – The Opening Ceremony of the 40th series of EXERCISE PELICAN between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) commenced this morning at Changi Naval Base and officiated by the Guest of Honour, Rear Admiral Sean Wat Jianwen, Fleet Commander RSN. Also present were Captain Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN Fleet Commander, participating ships' Commanding Officers, Officers, and ratings from both navies.

The Ceremony was initiated with an opening remark by the RSN Fleet Commander where he highlighted that this exercise would reinforce the strong bilateral ties between the two navies and enhance the deep sense of mutual trust and cooperation between the two navies. The opening ceremony was concluded with the revelation of the 40th Edition Exercise PELICAN Logo and followed by a commemorative dinner.

The Harbour Phase also consisted of shore-based training where participants conducted a simulated training in preparation for the Air Defence Exercise serial, shared experiences and training on Fire Fighting and Damage Control and competed in the PELICAN Cup Sports which was won by the RSN.

 In conjunction with the exercise, the RBN Fleet Commander also made a courtesy call to the RSN Fleet Commander and to the RSN Chief of Staff – Naval staff, where they reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between both navies.
