RBN PERSONNEL COMPLETE BASIC NAVAL DIVING COURSE

MUARA, Monday, 04 July 2022 – Four personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy comprising of 2 officers and 2 junior rates successfully completed their Basic Naval Diving Course Serial 01/2022. The 6 weeks course was handled by the Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG) Naval Training Centre (NTC) from 18th February 2022 to 4th July 2022 in Muara Naval Base.

A closing ceremony was held today at the Serasa Watermanship Complex, Royal Brunei Armed Forces with the presentation of certificates and log books and a presentation of awards to outstanding course participants presented by the Guest of Honour, Commanding Officer KDB DARUSSALAM, Commander Pengiran Mohd Faren Pg Mohd Noor, RBN. The highest award was granted to Lieutenant Junior Grade Mohd Bahrin Shah bin Behrom Shem with top achievements in the overall aspects of the course. Meanwhile, the Best Academic Award recipient was Ordinary Rate Muhd Muizzuddin bin Hj Jainuddin, both awards were presented by the Guest of Honour. Also present at the ceremony were senior officers, invited officers, head of departments Instructors and senior ranks of the RBN personnel.

The course consisted of 3 phases of training, beginning with the Pool Phase where course participants were introduced to the fundamentals of diving underwater, searching procedures, emergency drills as well as pool competency to prepare them for their next phase, the Sea Phase. The Sea Phase is where the course participants were exposed to the sea as their next area of training building on areas such as Searching procedures, Signals, Compass and Ship Bottom Inspections both conducted during the day and night. The final phase, Operation Week, course participants were tested mentally and physically on everything they have learned throughout the previous weeks of the training.
