ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY CONDUCTS PASSAGE EXERCISE WITH REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE NAVY SHIP, RSS FEARLESS (22)

MUARA, Saturday, 17 July 2021 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX), in Brunei waters. Two ships were involved: KDB DARULEHSAN of RBN, captained by Commander Saiful Hazril bin Haji Ali, RBN and RSS FEARLESS (22) of RSN, captained by Major Chew Chun Cheong, RSN.

During the PASSEX, both navies demonstrated their ability to work together through numerous serials such as Publication Exercise (PUBEX), Maneuvering Exercise (MANEX) and Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX). The exercises focused on enhancing operational interoperability and tactical expertise. The exercises also enhanced and strengthened bilateral ties between the two navies. Prior to the PASSEX, the Royal Brunei Navy conducted a pre-sail brief with the RSS FEARLESS, Republic Singapore Navy as a follow up of IPC & FPC for the upcoming execution phase via video teleconference broadcasted from the Multi-National Coordination Centre (MNCC), Muara Naval Base where both ships' Captains along with their respective Executive Officers (XO) and other officers were also present during the serialized brief.

It also gave all personnel and officers a chance to practice their drills in executing the serials which acts as an indication that the main objectives were reached. This exercise ended with both captains expressing satisfaction with the exercise, looking forward to having more opportunities in the future to strengthen the ties between both navies.
