CLOSING CEREMONY OF SUB-LIEUTENANT COURSE 2021

MUARA, Friday, 23 April 2021 – The Sub-Lieutenant Course (SLC) 2021, was conducted by the Naval Training Centre (NTC) Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) in collaboration with the Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), from 11th January 2021 to 23rd April 2021. This course has been concluded with a closing ceremony and presentation of certificates held earlier today at Nakhoda Hall, NTC. Present as the Guest of Honor was the Fleet Commander of RBN, Commander Khairil bin Hj Abdul Rahman, RBN. Also present during the event were Commandant Naval Training, RBN Fleet Officers, NTC Officers & Instructors, representative from the Police Marine of the Royal Brunei Police Force and RBTS management and staff.

A total of 21 RBN young officers attended the 15 weeks course which designed to train junior fleet officers in navigating ships safely in order to hold the Officer of the Watch (OOW) and Navigation Officer (NO) appointment onboard RBN ship. Added objectives for the course is to enhance professionalism of a competent OOW and NO, and be able to do Ocean Passage Planning and Celestial Navigation. Subjects that were included in the course also covered Navigation, Communications, Warfare, Fire Fighting and Damage Control.

Speaking as the course representative, Lt JG Adi Fakhri bin Johari, RBN shared their experiences and reflections throughout the course. He highlighted that officer need to be consistent and implement the lessons learnt throughout the participant's career.

The speech was followed by the certificate presentation to the course participants by the Guest of Honor. The closing ceremony ended with the closing recitation of doa followed by a group photo session with all the distinguished guests, staff and instructors.
